August 2006

Hello everyone,

Hope you are enjoying your summer, whether you've been baking hot, drenched with rain, or away on holiday. Looking outside my window today, it seems as though summer is over and we've all actually had to put on fleeces! Hard to believe we were melting just 3 weeks ago.

It's been a while since I've written since there just wasn't much new to report! I wanted to drop you a short line to let you know I'll be at the Festival of Quilts at the NEC this coming week (August 17-20) on stand I46. If you haven't been to the show yet, do try to attend, as the quilts on display are always fabulous, and there are usually several different mini collections to see, many classes to attend where you can learn new skills, or book the children onto a kids' workshop, not to mention the excellent shopping available!

I have several new quilting patterns for the show, some beautiful new magnetic notepads, and a selection of absolutely stunning little quilt prints from a Canadian artist. She also produces brooches and very useful address books - please come and have a look. You'll want to buy several, since they make excellent gifts for your quilting friends and you'll want to keep one just for yourself! I have some beautiful little silvery keychains with 3D quilt blocks hanging from them, and some marvellous rustic antique mill bobbins which are just right as hangers for your smaller needlework. I have also been able to track down 2 hard-to-find Judy Severson signed and numbered prints - one is in the palest of blue with a slight Baltimore Album feel to it, and the other is in dark hunter green shades of all different leaves - gorgeous.

As usual, you can rely on us for decorative wire hangers, wooden and rusty shapes, Santa beards, angel hair, small fir garlands, and a huge selection of metal embossing stencils - nearly 20 of which are of miniature quilt designs, or related to sewing in some way.

We look forward to seeing you, and do let me know if there's something special you'd like for me to hold for you - things do sell out very quickly! As so many things are bought in just for the show, they won't appear on the website - sorry for that. I don't mind if you phone me on Sunday, since I'll be out at work on Monday and Tuesday, and I leave for the show to set up on Wednesday about lunchtime. 01296 640234.

Take care and happy sewing!
Lynn
