September 2006

Hi and welcome to Autumn's newsletter. I tried to send one this summer, but technology prevented it, so apologies for the delay.

I've just returned from doing a show at the Festival of Quilts at the NEC and what a stunning show it was. If you were there, you might just now have recovered from all that creative and visual stimulation. If you missed it, well you must make sure you go next year! There were so many fabulous quilts, installations, workshops, small special exhibits from all over - did you see the marvellous little Swedish dolls quilts on antique dolls beds? I wanted to take all of them home. And there was an amazing mini exhibition from Russia - WOW! And so many marvellous British quilters were there, so you could meet and chat with people whose work has inspired you. We were there for the four days, and I nearly didn't get to see everything - imagine 4 days not being enough!

If you didn't find time for too much shopping, don't worry - I ordered extra so I'd have some things left after the show! There's lots of new things you'll find on the site which were ordered especially with quilters in mind. Some fantastic new little prints of quilts from a Canadian artist - you can get them framed or unframed, single image or double and triple images. She also makes absolutely fabulous little wooden brooches with her quilt designs on, and she's included an address book! In the gift lines, we also have a very pretty little keyring, silver with a small square quilt block attached - you'll have an indestructible little quilt jangling with your keys.

The biggest hit of the show was our new range of bag patterns, designed by a very creative Englishwoman. There's only one up on the site at the moment - the rest are in transit. We sold out on the first day, got some replacement patterns, and sold out of those as well! She's sending me some more which should be here this week. I warn you, you'll want to make more than just one!

We also have some new quilt patterns from Country Threads, who design traditional-feeling quilts with a slight twist - one of the patterns (called Good News) has one lot of cutting which produces the blocks for 2 quilts - good use of your time! The other pattern, called Red&White Stars, is just a beautiful traditional pattern, which every quilter should make at least once - and it does look stunning in red and white.

We'll be getting new Christmas stencils in towards the end of September, in time for early crafters to get going.

You'll want to check out our Sale pages, where you'll find nearly every pattern at a reduced price! I've gone into Spring Clean mode at the wrong time of the year, but am giving everyone a chance to stock up before Christmas. There are lots of different things to choose from, including Christmas quilts and Santas, Stitching patterns by Bareroots, to traditional patchwork quilts. Don't leave it too late, cuz they'll go fast!

I'm next at the Autumn Hobbycrafts for Scotland in Glasgow at the SECC in October (27, 28, 29 October). I'm not doing as many shows as previous due to family commitments. I'm certainly not wishing my children's childhoods away, but once they're more self-sufficient I'll be able to be away from home more. Please don't forget to ring me for a chat about me coming to your craft group to do a Stencilling Workshop - it's such a fun day and everyone always leaves happy.

Many thanks to everyone who continues to support us and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Kind regards,
Lynn
